How to Reset a Skoda Key

I just got a message that my infotainment unit was low on battery and needs to be replaced. This isn't the first time, and last time I went to an auto dealer, they replaced it for free, took 2 mins and said it would work once more.

An EEPROM (non-volatile) memory is utilized in a broad variety of electronic devices like car keys. It stores data that includes the unique authentication codes and encryption keys that your vehicle recognizes when you use it to unlock or start the car. These codes are vital because they notify the car that you have the correct key and are authorised to drive it.

Remote Control Method

If you've just bought an electronic remote control but it doesn't work in your car it could be because the seller didn't have programmed it correctly to your vehicle. It could also be that the battery terminals have become loose. They may feel loose and sometimes be soldered into. Soldering them back in place will bring back your key fob's full function. If you're not confident with this type of repair, consult a professional auto elect technician.

Turn off the ignition, and lock the vehicle from inside with another key that is not compatible (this resets the memory position 1). Enter channel "01" (may be channel "21" in some Audi models). Insert the new key fob in the door of the driver and press its unlock button twice in 5 seconds (often enough to reach the next available memory position).

Repeat this coding procedure for up to 4 additional remote controls - be sure to turn off the ignition before programming each remote. You should hear a chime each time you successfully code the remote.
